Winning package includes an iTREKKERS bay fishing adventure for your and dad, perfect for new 
and seasoned anglers alike, and a unique waterfront dining experience from PIER 22— what dad catches on his trek the PIER 22 culinary team will prepare using innovative cooking methods that bring out the natural flavors of the fish.

Contestants can register by filling out the official Hook A Dad Up registration 
form on the PIER 22 website. Fully completed forms must be received between June 11, 2017 - June 18, 2017. Contestants can also boost their chances of winning by filling out an entry form on the iTREKKERS website and in person Father's Day Sunday, June 18.

5th Annual Tourism Ambassador of the Year Award Goes to Executive Chef Greg Campbell
Friday, May 12, during the annual Bradenton Area Convention and Visitors Bureau National Tourism Week Celebration, Greg Campbell was announced the 5th Annual Tourism Ambassador Award winner.
 
Since 2012, individuals have been chosen annually to receive the Bradenton Area Tourism Ambassador Award. This honor, presented by Manatee County Commissioner Carol Whitmore and the BACVB Executive Director Elliott Falcione, recognizes individuals who have made a significant, positive impact on the development of Bradenton, Florida as a desirable visitor destination and have curated the best possible guest experience.
 
Greg Campbell, Executive Chef and General Manager for PIER 22 Restaurant and Catering received the 2017 Bradenton, Florida Tourism Ambassador Award at an industry event celebration held at the Bradenton Area Convention Center.
 
Chef Campbell learned the art of cooking at the hands of his French grandmother, Simone Hubert. Together, in her kitchen in Rhode Island, they made delectable creations always prepared with love and often using bacon. Throughout young adulthood, Greg continued to improve his culinary skills and expertise in restaurant operations. In 2006, Campbell accepted a position with PIER 22. 
 
Campbell and the PIER 22 team are known for their commitment to providing customers with outstanding service and quality scratch-cooked meals. Guests recognize the landmark restaurant as more than a refined culinary destination. For many patrons, PIER 22 is a material component in the way that they relax during a Bradenton, Florida vacation and essential to the way many locals and visitors celebrate the holidays. 
 
Upon receiving the Tourism Ambassador Award, Campbell stated "it's about taking care of people like they're your family and I try to emanate that in the restaurant. He joked about several bazaar guest requests but reminded his peers in tourism that it is "critical" to take care of all visitors to the Bradenton area no matter what it takes.
 
Campbell and his team can often be found working with Realize Bradenton to sponsor local tourists events like the Bradenton Blues Festival among many others. Campbell is a longtime member at large for Sarasota-Manatee Originals; he is also a Florida Restaurant & Lodging Association member. In 2013, Chef Greg Campbell received the honor of Best Chefs America. 
 
Campbell and his team work daily to provide visitors with memorable dining experiences that keep them coming back to the Friendly-City.  "I challenge myself and everybody here to do their best," Campbell remarked in his closing.  
 
Previous Tourism Ambassador Award winners have included restaurant and tourism industry leaders such as the CEO of the Chiles Group, Ed Chiles, and John Horne, CEO of Bradenton’s Anna Maria Oyster Bar and Manatee County Parks and Natural Resources Department Director Charlie Hunsicker.
 
The Bradenton Area Convention & Visitors Bureau promotes tourism to Bradenton/Anna Maria Island/Longboat Key area and the rest of Manatee County, including Palmetto, Holmes Beach, Bradenton Beach, Cortez, Ellenton, Myakka City, Ft. Hamer, Lakewood Ranch and Parrish, through domestic and international advertising, public relations and marketing efforts.

Eateries Then & Now Exhibit Shows a Flavorful Side to Bradenton History

There's plenty of food for thought at the Eateries exhibit going on now at the Central Library in downtown Bradenton.

The Central Library Bradenton Eateries Then & Now opening reception on Thursday, April 20 brought a large crowd of about 50 hungry people in search of food and information.  The event included menu samples from many local restaurants such as Fav's Italian Cucina, PIER 22, Sugar Cubed Pastry Lab and several others. Also on display, memorabilia such as old menus, dated advertisements, newspaper clippings and an informational slide show depict Bradenton as a foodie capital. 

The exhibit also reveals extraordinary changes within the restaurant industry and throughout the city of Bradenton including its landscape and culture. Librarian David Breakfield tossed around several ideas for the exhibit before landing on a show that would focus mainly on eateries in the downtown Bradenton area.

During the opening reception, both Breakfield and the library supervisor of information services, Ericka Dow, shared stories and answered questions from the crowd. A PowerPoint slide showing the Mediterranean fusion restaurant Ortygia sparked conversation about noticeable change in the area. "That area has turn of the century houses," Breakfield commented.  He said that the part of Bradenton known now as the Village of the Arts was once hard hit by drugs but has since been "greatly improved" and revamped as an artist's colony.

The riverfront restaurant PIER 22, a well known Bradenton landmark, also appears in the show. Photos dating back to the 1920s when the pier's building was first erected are on display and juxtaposed with images from the modern day.  You can also find print pieces, presumably from the seventies, that advertise the restaurant when it was just starting out.

Learning about the many changes to the area was "eye-opening," Tabatha Davis, PIER 22 director of marketing, said. "But what's more amazing is that much of the history has been preserved," Davis mentioned that building renovations like those to the pier and many others in the arts district along with the Central Library's robust digital collection of historic images help keep the past alive. "Many of the restaurants mentioned in the exhibit have deep roots within the community and have been serving guests for decades; it's a beautiful thing," Davis said.
 
The exhibit runs through July at the Central Library, 1301 Barcarrota Blvd. W.

PIER 22 was voted twelve-time People's Choice winner according to results released Sunday by the Bradenton Herald. Contest results suggest that guests of the downtown Bradenton restaurant and catering company enjoy PIER 22 for its culinary excellence, elegant but casual ambiance, incredible service and more! 
 
In the Food & Drink as well as At Your Service categories, PIER 22 won first place awards for Best Caterer, Best Brunch, Best Wedding Venue and Most Romantic Restaurant. The made up holiday originated with Leslie Knope, a fictional character, on the hit show Parks & Recreation. It might sound funny to observe a holiday not officially recognized by the U.S. Postal Service or the Federal Reserve, but "aren't all holiday's made up," commented PIER 22 Marketing Director Tabatha Davis?

The day is set aside for ladies to celebrate their ladies. In other words, Galentine's Day is a besties holiday to honor your love for your girlfriends. Usually, the husbands and boyfriends are left at home to allow for an all girls brunch, lunch or dinner. PIER 22 is offering a special fixed menu for Galentine's Day that is open to all (women, men, and children alike). Throughout Valentine's Day Week, PIER 22 will also celebrate love in all of its glory with daily giveaways to their Facebook fans.

Exclusive to the Galentine's Day menu, guests will find a couple of savory morsels. PIER 22 teamed up with Sugar Cubed Pastry Lab to offer a sweet treat that commemorates the type of combination that you only get when best friends get together: perfectly paired chocolate truffles. PIER 22, Bradenton's top romantic dining destination, is serving sweetheart dinners Valentine's Day, February 14, 2017. Throughout Valentine's Day Week, PIER 22 will celebrate love in all of its glory with daily giveaways to PIER 22 Facebook fans.

"Valentine's Day is a time to wear your heart on your sleeve," said Catering and Special Events Manager, Jillian Price." "Nothing says I love you quite like sharing a scratch-cooked meal while the sun starts to go down over the beautiful Manatee River."

PIER 22 is known for its charming and romantic ambiance and has hosted thousands of lovebirds over the years, for date night, for rehearsal dinners, and fully catered and coordinated weddings. During the latest Bradenton Herald People's Choice polling, readers voted PIER 22 Most Romantic Restaurant.

The Sweetheart Dinner menu begins at 3 p.m. Tuesday, February 14. A special wine tasting will take place from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. and will feature Acrobat Pinot Gris from Oregon and Chateau St. Jean Pinot Noir from California. Throughout the night, couples will also toast with romantic cocktail concoctions like the Razzmopolitan, which is offered only during special events, along with the decadent Chocolate Kiss Martini. The PIER 22 Valentine's Day menu includes guests' choice of the following:

Florida's finest wine and food festival, Forks & Corks, which is presented by The Sarasota-Manatee Originals, celebrates its tenth year with a series of events throughout the weekend of January 27. PIER 22, the authentic waterfront dining restaurant, located in the heart of downtown Bradenton, is scheduled to host a special Forks & Corks Winemaker Dinner Friday, Jan 27 starting at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are limited and reservations are required. Cost is $100 + tax and gratuity. Guests of the Forks & Corks Winemaker Dinner will enjoy carefully selected varietals from the award-winning, Michael David Winery in Lodi, California perfectly paired with PIER 22 specialty creations.

If you can make it pass the Moanday blues, Tuesdays at PIER 22 offersthe perfect pick me up. From 5-7 pm Tuesdays, PIER 22 hosts a weekly cheese & wine tasting. Samples are complimentary, and selections are drawn from both near and far. Our wine list focuses on California bottles, and for added diversity, our list also includes new world selections from South Africa, New Zealand, and South America. PIER 22 also represents the old world with a modest selection of wines from Spain, Italy and France. These wines represent both traditional producers such as Louis Jadot and Joseph Drouhin from France, and Masi and Renato Ratti from Italy as well as more modern producers like Bodegas Castaño and Bodegas Borsao from Spain.

5. The Friendly City & A Wonderful Community
PIER 22 is incredibly happy to make Bradenton our home. Giving back to our community is part of our daily mission to never stop improving. Bradenton is known as the Friendly City, and it is easy to see why. The outpouring of support during the 2016 PIER 22 Toys For Tots Drive warmed our hearts.

 The incredible levels of participation during Brunch On The Bay, where PIER 22 & their partnering culinary students built and served more than 895 capicola eggs benedict, helped to raise $21,356 for education. In late 2016, the unstoppable crowds at the Bradenton Blues Festival, sponsored in part by PIER 22, contributed to the funding of Bradenton’s youth, art, and music programs. 

 

4. Recipes from Scratch
PIER 22 observed Homemade Bread day and the start of the 2016 bread making season with a behind-the-scenes look at the delicious journey every PIER 22 dinner roll takes before arriving at your table. The PIER 22 menu focuses on fresh ingredients. From our housemade sauces and several scratch-cooked menu items, our guests recognize PIER 22 as the authentic waterfront dining restaurant where there is no substitution for quality. Our fresh baked bread and housemade Boursin butter make it clear that good things come to those that wait, and while the process of fresh baked bread can take hours, we've spliced it down to a mouthwatering 2 minutes of video that we hope you enjoy.

 

 

3. Bar Wars
Friendly competition helps drive us all forward. The PIER 22 ultimate bartender showdown, encouraged creativity and inventiveness. Participating bartenders along with their specialty cocktails made their debut throughout the games. With your votes tallied, it became clear that no one could match Brittany's Razzmopolitan. The tart concoction was featured in a Sarasota Herald-Tribune article and is due next to appear as romantic Valentine's Day cocktail February 14, 2017.

Every year, the holiday boat parade makes us feel like a little kid again. 2016 stood out due to the record number of captains that participated along with the thunderous cheering from the crowds! 

 

1. An Incredible Waterside Thanksgiving
We've said it before, and here we go again, every day is a day worth celebrating at PIER 22. But there's something extra special about Thanksgiving on the water in downtown Bradenton. For turkey day 2016, families enjoyed a traditional meal without the cooking or the clean up and Executive Chef, Greg Campbell, said that he was "happy and humbled to be a part of the way Bradenton celebrates the holiday."

A Manatee Holiday Tradition Grows as Participation in Holiday Boat Parade Increases

A showing of 22 festively decorated boats, continued a Manatee County holiday tradition several years in the making. For Manatee County, the Annual Holiday Boat Parade always draws big crowds to the downtown areas of Bradenton and Palmetto. For 2017, a greater number of participants meant that the parade carried on from about 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. when the last boat named Arrk passed by PIER 22.

During the awards ceremony, Twin Dolphin Marina Manager and Holiday Boat Parade Committee member, Cynthia Belfatto said that she was delighted to see the number of vessels performing in the boat parade increase from about 17 to 22 and she expressed thanks to the many captains that took part in making the night a success.

 

Starting at dusk, December 10, 2016, a procession of festively decorated vessels made way from Snead Island then moved east past the Bradenton Yacht Club, proceeded to the Riverhouse Reef and Grill, then turned south at the Green Bridge and completed the parade at PIER 22. Captains competed for first place winner, second place winner, and third place winner in two vessel categories: under 40 feet and over 40 feet. The awards ceremony took place at Riverhouse Reef & Grill where the following captains and their boats were named champions:
In the over 40 feet category, Captain Heath Daughtry and vessel Yellowfin took first place. Second place went to Captain Eric Ramsey with vessel EW-WE II. Captain Gary Alderman with vessel Shacar was awarded third place. In the under 40 feet category, Captain Steve McNutt with vessel Down Under won first place. Second place went to Captain Gary Morgan with vessel Sassy. Third place went to Captain Layne Oslrander with vessel Snapper Addict II. Cash prizes ranged from $150- $500.

From the boaters performances to the cheering crowds at the many judging spots along the river, the winter holiday event is extremely interactive in nature. A special viewing party took place at PIER 22 where audience participation helped decide points for captains and their vessels. PIER 22 guest judges included Vice President of the Manatee Healthcare System, Vernon DeSear and Executive Editor & Vice President of the Bradenton Herald, Joan Krauter.

"It's a great privilege for PIER 22 to be able to take part in the way that our community celebrates the holiday season, and the parade is always a boatload of fun," said PIER 22 owner Hugh Miller.

New Year's Eve Bash Takes Place at PIER 22 in Downtown Bradenton

For New Year's Eve 2016-2017, guests are invited to join PIER 22 for a memorable dinner party celebration with photo fun booth access, music and dancing on the waterside terrace, and VIP Grand Ballroom Party options.

PIER 22, the authentic waterfront dining restaurant, located in the heart of downtown Bradenton, extends its hours New Year's Eve, Saturday, Dec. 31, 2016, and will be open from 11:30 a.m. Saturday until  1 a.m. early Sunday morning.  Executive Chef and general manager, Greg Campbell described New Year's Eve as "a time to party with family and friends, which is why PIER 22 is hosting a festive holiday bash that includes gratifying culinary delights, lively entertainment, riverfront views and impeccable service."

Starting at 4 p.m., in the PIER 22 dining room, restaurant goers may choose to enjoy a meal from a special holiday menu that features several seafood favorites such as grouper Oscar, lobster tails, ahi tuna, along with many other savory choices including pork osso bucco, or roast duckling. Beginning in late evening, the PIER 22 Terrace, backdropped by the beautiful Manatee River, will include a dance floor and party DJ entertainment.

Starting at 9 p.m., in the Grand Ballroom, a VIP party will take place, which includes a delectable buffet, delicious hors d'oeuvres, a decadent dessert display, an open bar, and a dance floor and party DJ entertainment. Reservations to the VIP party are required and include restaurant party entry along with exclusive access into the Grand Ballroom for $119 per person (tax and gratuity are not included).

Throughout the evening, all PIER 22 guests are encouraged to commemorate the night with unlimited photos from the onsite photo booth. Then, as we usher in a new year, a celebratory midnight toast will ensue; restaurant-goers and VIP guests will receive a glass of sparkling champagne.
